Tucker Community Foundation

The Tucker Community Foundation’s "Run For It" program has significantly benefited from a strong partnership with the Bernard McDonough Foundation, which began with its initial grant in 2013. This collaboration has enhanced the program’s capacity to promote healthy activities while supporting local nonprofits.

Founded in 2007, the "Run For It" program encourages healthy lifestyles and provides vital support to over 75 nonprofit organizations annually across ten counties. Backed by the McDonough Foundation, the initiative has raised over $3.6 million from participant fees, sponsorships, and awards since its inception. The campaign begins on April 1st and culminates in a 2K walk and 5K run/walk on the last full weekend of September. This initiative addresses rising rates of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease while empowering local nonprofits to innovate and collaborate. The funding has created valuable networking opportunities, fostering solid partnerships aimed at tackling community challenges.

Funding from the Bernard McDonough Foundation has enabled the Tucker Community Foundation’s "Run For It" program to support numerous impactful initiatives and services. It has provided essential resources to over 75 nonprofit organizations each year across ten counties, promoting healthy lifestyles and addressing public health issues. This support has led to enhanced collaboration among nonprofits, enabling them to share resources, co-create programs, and work together more effectively. The funding has also facilitated a diverse range of initiatives, including arts, animal welfare, education, and community improvement projects, ultimately enriching the nonprofit landscape and strengthening efforts to enhance community health and well-being.

The collaboration between the Tucker Community Foundation and the Bernard McDonough Foundation highlights the power of partnership in amplifying community initiatives. McDonough Foundation’s contributions have not only provided financial support for the "Run For It" program but have also fostered a robust network among organizations. This heightened collaboration strengthens collective efforts towards improving community health and well-being. Together, both foundations are paving the way for a healthier future and enhancing the local nonprofit sector.
