Golden Girl Group Home
For nearly two decades, the Bernard McDonough Foundation has stood beside Golden Girl Group Home as one of our most faithful and compassionate partners. Their investment has changed the trajectory of hundreds of young lives. Because of their generosity, girls who once struggled academically have graduated from high school, pursued college, and discovered that their futures could be brighter than their pasts. They have funded workforce development opportunities through our social enterprises, giving our girls valuable job skills, confidence, and the belief that they can build successful, independent lives.
The Foundation has also supported our mentoring program, ensuring that each girl has a caring, trusted adult who believes in her and walks beside her through healing. They helped establish a food pantry to address food insecurity and created a welcoming gathering place where our girls celebrate birthdays, graduations, accomplishments, and the milestones that many of them never had the opportunity to experience before coming to Golden Girl. Their support of our independent living program has equipped our young women with practical life skills, preparing them to become confident, self-sufficient women. Every Christmas, they also bring joy and hope by providing a wonderful Christmas celebration that reminds our girls they are cherished.
The needs of the girls we serve have become increasingly heartbreaking. Today, we are caring for children as young as 12 years old who have been victims of sex trafficking, often exploited by adults seeking money to feed opioid addiction. These children arrive carrying unimaginable trauma, fear, and grief. Yet because of partners like the Bernard McDonough Foundation, they find safety, healing, and hope within our home.
While we are deeply grateful for the financial support the Foundation has provided, what has meant just as much is the genuine compassion of its leadership and staff. They have never viewed Golden Girl as simply another grant recipient. They have taken the time to know our mission, celebrate our successes, and understand the incredible resilience of the girls we serve. Their kindness, encouragement, and unwavering belief in our work have strengthened us through both triumphs and difficult seasons.
